If you had a simple knife sharpening machine, you learned how to operate and can turn out really long lasting sharpened knives, you have potential to earn immediate income because all most everyone has a drawer full of dull knives.

You also might have a drill bit sharpener, a chain saw sharpener and call your business Mr. Sharp. Starts with simple knife sharpening....get a pro to teach you.

Or....you can combine it with fixing sliding doors, (which you can learn how to do in one day) and screen repair which requires fewer than ten dollars worth of specialized tools and some screen. Read the instructions, web or at library etc.

many home owners will have all three of these, dull knives, a sliding door dragging and a busted screen or two.

We are writing up cracked or busted windows as a mobile business in itself.

You may find some landlord that has several rental houses and going back to storm windows for the winter season may hire you to pop down all the storm windows if he pays the heat and replace any cracked or busted windows. Now if you carry glass with you and cut and repair on the spot that puts you in a league all by yourself.

We do not know what may be hot as a seasonal service for landlords that have many homes. One of these is worth many home owners. He talks to other landlords and they constantly swap who is best for doing what, and you can get a lot of business if you do something right and reasonable.

As long as we are on the subject, if you can get a dozen landlords that have multiple homes each they can almost keep you busy on many things in season.

Put out flyers explaining your service,maybe a link to your website page explaining your services, telling who you are.

To make the stop even more helpful he repairs and lubricates, sliding glass doors and repairs popped window screens.

This is all on your flyer etc you distribute, on door knobs, on your web site and your press release to local media to pick up some customer getting publicity. (Laid off folks doing new things to make a living make very timely interesting storys and publicity gets you CUSTOMERS. All no charge or cost to you.)
