Build Fast a Tourism Business-Little or No Money–Needed To Start

Depending On Local Situation, Adopt Tourism Businesses To Your Area

Going to tell you several ways to make
immediate income from tourism.

Currently I have a business that deals with tourists but the way I operate it right now may not be helpful to you because it requires cash investment and is a long ways from being risk free but you may get a couple of ideas that are risk free or nearly so. The method I use now, others do also and you can make money generating customers for them and me. Will write about that in other articles.

Most things or start up opportunities that I tell you about, are to get your thinking going on an adaptation for you, in your locality.

Most of what I relate to you I have either experience with myself, a friend in the business or observed it in my travels around the world as a tourist.

I mention previously and observed that tourists on a ten day trip with travel costs are spending about $200 a day, per person and if you provide them a service that is part of that or allows them to get more out of their trip $ you are a big help.

If you enhance it and make it more worthwhile, with even making it easier or better use of their time you provide a valuable service.

Some organized tour buses arrive in big numbers; sometimes two or three companies unloading about the same time or 2 Cruise Ships may hit your port and unload at the same time. This puts several thousand people coming ashore and bused to one tourism spot all at one time.

Some hot spot places a couple thousand tourists will be going to the same Tourist attraction at the same time frame. This is where you want to be.

As I mention in another article, if you are there on a rainy day or when the clouds look like it is about to rain, then a few dollars today investment with a retail price of $3 for a rain poncho (two for $5) or a $5 umbrella.

You need no store, no nothing, just a shoulder bag full of umbrellas and ponchos. They will be delighted to find you can save their day for $5, the tour people will love you, likely, you can sell 100 pieces or more on rainy days and make $400 up – .

You can test market this with $5 worth from the dollar store. When it works, you stock up from close out sources at $1 for umbrellas and 25 cents for ponchos.

We will give you other ideas to make fast dollars – no store needed, buy a few pieces at the dollar store and see how it goes, if it is obvious from your test you could sell a lot every rain storm then you look for a low cost “over stock” source on the item, remember the $3 or $5 items the dollar store is selling for a dollar.

Thus the dollar store home office buyer for the dollar chain likely bought for 30¢ and the local store paid 50¢ for it and you bought it for a dollar. Those are called close outs and we have to educate you on buying elsewhere, when you find a good source and sure this works, buy 144 pieces, thin plastic ponchos, about $36. They are good back up when you run out of umbrellas since small investment.

They take up almost no room.

Basically, I am trying to get you on to how this all works. You adopt it to other things, use it for ideas on what fits locally, each area is different and I write for people all over the world.

For example ponchos cost at 25¢ etc. will be investment of about $40. $50. If you sell out on your first rainy day you will have your $50 back plus $430. Do half as well, you’re still had a $200 day. You will likely do this in 3 hours.

We will discuss later what you can sell when it quits raining. What I am trying to do is getting you think about things like rainy days no one else thinking about or is ready for but you are there to fill a need, this is timing. I learned the hard way about timing, trying to sell my left over Christmas trees on Dec. 26th.

Tours charge about $50 to $80 per person per day and have an advantage and a big disadvantage. The advantage is no decisions, you just go along with whatever they decided, you should see, which may or may not be what you wanted to see, and many even take you to commercial jewelry or other local pottery manufacturer peculiar to the area, you spend 30 minutes to an hour you paid for and they are counting on you buying something and the tourism guide was paid to bring you there, this irritates me.

This hour cost me $20 or more in total costs (tourist total costs) and I am paying to be sold something.

The advantage of a personal guide or driver is you can see in a day what you want to see, skip all the time consuming stops the tour people drag out into two days of many things you never wanted to see but have become locked in, you are stuck with how long here, and how short a time there where you wanted to explore further etc.

Therefore a personal guide conducted tour for 2 people for $100 is a good deal because he answers your questions, tells you what you want to know more about and skips all the nonsense of no interest to you, Let's you take as long as you want to take pictures or further explore main interests etc.

How do you get into the tour-driver guide business? Start with just you, when you get on to getting more then you can handle, bring in some help, and get a percentage.

You do not need to open a store front, you do not need vehicles you drive theirs, if that won’t work, you rent a car or van (their expense) depending on how many and charge them the costs, you get your $100 for two, tour fee or whatever, more maybe for more etc.

In U.S. most guides will also get tips which can run about ten per cent additional income.
